On 7-8 October 2020, ALL DIGITAL will organise its 13^th annual summit entitled “Competences for the Future”. The event is organised ONLINE ONLY  in collaboration with our German members Helliwood, JOBLINGE, and Digital Opportunities Foundation.

The event is supported by the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Government of Germany, which has the Presidency of the European Union from 1 July to 31 December 2020. The German Government has made digital learning one of the key priorities for education and training during this EU Presidency.

The Summit brings together representatives of networks and organisations working to enhance digital skills of European citizens.

Who we are

The Summit is organised by ALL DIGITAL – a Brussels-based network of organisations working to enhance digital skills of Europeans. We were established in 2007 on the initiative of digital inclusion leaders with support from Microsoft first as an informal thematic network, and in 2010 – as a formal international non-profit association. Thirteen years later, we are a major European Association in the field of digital inclusion and empowerment, but also a family united by one purpose: empower Europe through digital skills.

Our vision is that every European should be able to exploit the benefits and opportunities created by digital transformation. We are ALL DIGITAL. Our members are organisations leading the networks of digital competence centres – low threshold community centres, NGOs, libraries, other public places where people get access to technology and the Internet and learn digital skills.

The Summit

The ALL DIGITAL Summit is one of the leading public events in Europe on digital competences. It provides a unique platform where trainers and facilitators working for digital competence centres, ICT learning centres, adult education centres are joined by education and employability experts, private and public stakeholders, including policy makers, to exchange experiences and share knowledge, reflect together on strategies to expand the number of digitally literate citizens, while networking to identify new potential partners in future projects.

This year, inevitably, Covid-19 has not only determined the format of the event, but has also become the invisible thread that connects all the topics in the programme. This is not surprising, as historically pandemics have been precipitators of crisis and accelerators of change. A future that seemed near, but not yet close, has suddenly been thrust upon us: teaching and learning from home, working from home at a rate thought inconceivable before, finding ways to stay close to those we could not or cannot stay close to, acquiring skills that we never thought we would need.

A deep rethinking of what has been done so far; understanding this new world we are in; assessing which competences we will need the most to continue to thrive; how to improve skills on our own and the methods to help others improve theirs; how to increase the recognition by as many subjects as possible of the skills we have acquired – these thoughts have driven the choice of the ALL DIGITAL Summit’s theme “Competences for the Future” and the following four streams of subjects running through keynotes, panels, workshops, and lightning talks, i.e.:

• Towards a version 2.2 of DigComp > DIGCOMP
• The future of digital competence centres > FUTURE
• Recognition of digital competence certificates in Europe > CERTIFICATION
• Lessons learned during Covid-19 > LESSONS

Crowddreaming: Youth Co-Create Digital Culture – CDDC

The ALL DIGITAL Summit 2020 will host the international event of the “Crowddreaming: Youth Co-Create Digital Culture – CDDC” project, also including the launch of its Europa Square platform.

CDDC is a project, coordinated by ALL DIGITAL and co-funded by the EC ERASMUS+ programme under the action KA3 Social Inclusion through Education, training and youth (Project #: 604517-EPP-1-2018-BE-EPPKA3-IPI-SOC-IN). The CDDC Partnership is composed of five partners among universities, European networks and non-formal training providers in adult education from five European countries.

The purpose of CDDC is to disseminate and scale-up at European level the “Crowddreaming” good practice in the field of the valorisation of digital cultural heritage as a means for inclusive education and for the promotion of European values among youngsters. “Crowddreaming” was born as a contest for schools in Italy with the aim of creating a lasting digital monument dedicated to Europe as a transcultural laboratory. The CDDC project pilot action is implemented in four countries (Croatia, Greece, Italy, and Latvia) directly addressing secondary school teachers and students.

Digital SkillShift

Digital SkillShift project aims to reskill and upskill citizens facing the challenges of digital transformation to the labour market.  It aims to create new work-related opportunities for the beneficiaries of a specially-tailored training programme, by developing new skills and attitudes required for today’s labour market. It aims to create a scalable model and curriculum for citizens and a new digital transformation approach for employers.

Helliwood

For more than 25 years Helliwood media & education at fjs e.V. has provided educational initiatives, learning labs for different target groups and promotes 21st century competences to empower people from young to old in discovering and experiencing digital media. The organisation brings education and media together and aims to shape actively the digitalized society.

JOBLINGE

The vision of the JOBLINGE initiative is to make a visible and sustainable contribution to the fight against youth unemployment. Since 2015, JOBLINGE has had a strong focus on STEM and digital learning. The aim is to integrate young people who are most at risk of social exclusion into the STEM-sector with the help of specialized training programmes and by encouraging civil society
actors and businesses to collaborate in these efforts. Read more about JOBLINGE’s activities in this blog.

Digital Opportunities Foundation

Since the establishment in 2002, it is the remit of the German Digital Opportunities Foundation to research the social impact of digitisation, to campaign for equal access to the Internet for all people and to advance digital literacy. SDC’s objective is digital inclusion of all societal groups and counteracting the digital divide.

Summit Background

Previously called Telecentre-Europe Annual Conference and Telecentre-Europe Summit, the event has been one of the main meeting points for leaders of digital competence networks and organisations working to enhance digital skills.

Since 2008, ALL DIGITAL has organised 12 annual events for its member organizations and stakeholders.

In 2019, the two-day event in Bologna, Italy, was attended by over 170 participants. It was co-hosted by our Italian members ART-ER, Lai-Momo,  Open Group in collaboration with Emilia-Romagna Digital Agenda and supported by Golinelli Foundation.  Learn more
